- Assistant or Associate Professor, Global and Public Affairs - Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs
Description
Position Summary
The Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver seeks to hire a tenure-line assistant or associate professor with a focus on the intersection of technology and global and public affairs. The position will commence in September 2026.
The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate outstanding potential at the assistant level or an outstanding record at the associate level, both as a scholar and a teacher, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary school and complement the expertise of the existing faculty, who specialize in security, democracy, and human rights issues. We will give special consideration to scholars who focus on the impacts of contemporary technological innovation — such as artificial intelligence, drones, cyber-threats, automation, data, and surveillance— on security, democracy, human rights, or global and domestic governance.
The Korbel School is a leader in global and public affairs education and scholarship, with two undergraduate majors, six MA programs, and an MPP program. We are deeply committed to building a diverse and inclusive educational environment and particularly seek candidates with research, teaching, service, or life experiences that can contribute to realizing that commitment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with ethnically/racially diverse populations and expertise in inclusive pedagogy. We encourage applications from candidates with non-traditional career paths and from international scholars.
Essential Functions
The faculty member in this position will teach core courses in the Korbel School’s MA and undergraduate programs. Through research and outreach, the person in this position will also contribute to the growth of the technology-related dimensions of the School’s programs in global and public affairs — including possible synergies with existing degrees and research in security, democracy, human rights, and public policy — and to the School’s commitment to engaged scholarship.
