Job Summary:
Oversees the execution of Stewart’s compensation policies, procedures and programs to best attract, retain and motivate talent in accordance with the total rewards strategy. Ensures effective administration of compensation programs including salary structures, executive compensation, rewards & recognition programs and incentive pay plans. Provides guidance to HR and business stakeholders on equitable and consistent compensation practices that support business needs and meet financial objectives. Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of compensation processes, policies, procedures, external market environment and competitor practices to develop compensation strategies related to pay changes, promotions and compensation proposals. Provides direction and coaching to less experienced team members.
Job Description:
• Ensures the effective operation and communication of compensation policies, procedures and programs
• Answers highly complex manager inquiries related to compensation processes and policies and handles critical escalations related to variable pay
• Provides guidance on more complex issues related to new job creation, job code/job family management and FLSA reviews
• Oversees compensation survey participation, manages vendor relationships and provides expert guidance and knowledge of survey methodology to lead related projects and develop custom surveys; conducts highly complex analysis to prepare competitive compensation proposals, budgets and executive presentations
• Oversees development of compensation agreements; leads efficiency and implements process improvements
• Develops executive employment agreements; works with finance on performance levels and executive metrics
• Defines performance appraisal and salary administration process, conducts analysis on market conditions and provides recommendations to management on budget
• Leads design of incentive compensation plans based on extensive knowledge of Stewart's compensation processes and design principles
• Oversees administration of incentive pay programs (commissions, target based plans, P/L bonuses, etc.), creates highly complex models, develops and implements templates to streamline the incentive payment process
• Reviews and ensures accuracy of data provided by Compensation Analyst I & II for annual proxy statement, prepares complex data and helps streamline overall preparation process
• Oversees stock compensation administration and associate communications, manages vendor relationship, analyzes data, performs highly complex calculations and issues awards and anniversary grants
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and develops procedures and processes to streamline the administration of compensation policies, procedures and programs
• Presents results of data analysis to management and provides recommendations on compensation strategies and plan designs
• Leads highly complex compensation-related projects and consults on larger, cross-functional projects
• Develops compensation related communications, conducts presentations and assist with trainings
• Develops compensation administration guidelines
• Performs all other duties as assigned by management
• Requires comprehensive knowledge within own discipline and broad knowledge of disciplines within own function
• Performs specialized assignments; leads others to solve complex problems and develop non-traditional solutions
• Works independently; may require guidance in highly complex situations
• Interprets internal/external business environment
• Recommends best practices to improve processes or services
• May lead functional teams or projects with moderate risks and resource requirements
• Works within functional policies

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
• Typically requires 5+ years of related work experience
