The University of Chicago has a tradition of innovative interdisciplinary scholarship in the social sciences applied to health and health care. Discoveries at the interface of health and the social sciences address some of health care’s most critical problems. These include the relationship of individual and population health to social capital and human capital and neighborhood contexts, to the economics, organization and management of social institutions and policies.
The primary appointments will be in the Department of Medicine, although we anticipate that appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, institutes and centers at the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory and the National Opinion Research Center.
The Biological Sciences Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs across the university.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: apply.interfolio.com/168432. Applicants must upload: 1) a CV including bibliography; 2) a cover letter; 3) a research statement, and 4) a list of three references..
