Description

NORC’s AmeriSpeak® department is looking for an enthusiastic business development manager. This is a fascinating, intriguing opportunity responsible for the technical selling of AmeriSpeak’s scientifically rigorous research solutions. The AmeriSpeak Business Development Manager is responsible for developing new business accounts, identifying new accounts, writing basic proposals and price quotations, drafting pricing, and other documentation required for proposals and new study opportunities such as NDA, Sole-Source Justifications, and Letters of Intent. Maintain the CRM (Salesforce) system with correct and updated information on business contacts, accounts, and study opportunities. Develop a strong pipeline of new customers and projects in accounts through direct or indirect customer contact and prospecting. Works closely with AmeriSpeak Client Service in coordinating the implementation of new projects, maintaining close contact with the client during and after the completion of the project.

AmeriSpeak® is the first U.S. multiclient household panel to combine the speed and cost-effectiveness of panel surveys with enhanced representativeness of the U.S. population, an approach designed to achieve an industry-leading response rate and an innovative sample quality report card. AmeriSpeak has become the primary survey partner of the nation's preeminent news service, The Associated Press.

Developed and funded by NORC, AmeriSpeak randomly identifies Americans—including the country’s hardest-to-reach populations—and recruits them to provide their opinions and insights on a wide range of topics critical to our clients. The outcome is a truly representative picture of America and, thus, more accurate research results for use in statistical surveys.

Responsibilities:

  • Market and sell core AmeriSpeak products: AmeriSpeak Custom Surveys & Omnibus
  • Maintain the CRM (Salesforce) system with correct and updated information on business contacts, accounts, and study opportunities
  • Lead client consultation calls to learn about and discuss potential new projects.
  • Writing basic to moderately complex proposals and price quotes, create project budgets, and produce other materials in support of a successful bid effort.
  • Works closely with AmeriSpeak Client Services in coordinating the implementation of new projects and ensuring the client’s satisfaction after the completion of the project. 
  • Manage and mentor a team of Business Development Analysts
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 3 years of survey or market research experience with a minimum 1 year of client management experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing and mentoring staff
  • Working knowledge of the principles and processes of survey research; knowledge of at least one substantive or methodological area
  • Proficiency with data management in SPSS or SAS
  • Ability to write basic technical proposals and budget justifications for business proposals
  • Quantitative analysis skills, problem solving skills, time management, personal organization, attention to detail, discretion, and composure skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, identify and mitigate project risks and work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders and internal/external clients
  • Ability to work effectively collaboratively with minimal supervision
  • Microsoft Office software, including word processors, spreadsheets and graphics (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in Excel for analysis of sample counts and for budgeting projects
  • Proficiency in CRM applications such as SalesForce.com
